PU parts - URM

Essential and durable

Polyurethane is a highly versatile elastomer combining elasticity with exceptional abrasion resistance and mechanical strength. PU parts are widely used to protect equipment, reduce noise and vibration, and extend the lifetime of moving or load bearing components. Thanks to its excellent resilience and recoverability, polyurethane performs reliably under continuous stress, impact and exposure to industrial environments.

Why choose URM for PU manufacturing

  • Custom engineered PU solutions tailored to customer specifications
  • Wide hardness range suitable for flexible and rigid applications
  • Strong and durable PU to metal bonding
  • Cost efficient mould production for small and medium batches
  • From single prototypes to series production of hundreds of parts

Our polyurethane is mixed in automatically controlled machines, ensuring consistent quality and repeatability. Any colour can be produced to meet functional or visual requirements. Cast parts are post processed by grinding, turning or cutting to achieve tight dimensional tolerances.

PU product range and applications

URM produces a broad range of polyurethane components for multiple industries, including transport, bulk handling, manufacturing and processing equipment.

Typical PU products include

  • Coatings for transport wheels and rollers for forklifts, screening drums and settling tanks, with PU or Vulkollan treads on plastic or metal rims and bearings
  • Coated shafts for wide belt sanders, glue spreaders, paint spreaders and transport rollers
  • Bushings, rods, rings and plates or linings with steel or technical fabric reinforcement for wear protection
  • Slides, guides, no crush wheels and positioning elements for production lines
  • Conveyor belt idlers and scrapers for mining and bulk material transport
  • Anti vibration and fender bumpers, pipeline cleaning elements and coupling inserts
  • Steel pipes and elbows with antistatic PU coating for grain and bulk transport
  • Fully custom PU parts developed according to customer drawings or functional requirements

Production capabilities

Polyurethane parts are produced by gravity casting into moulds, allowing complex shapes and large dimensions. After casting, parts are heated and prepared for final machining. URM achieves reliable PU to metal bonding for rollers, wheels and reinforced components, ensuring long term durability even under heavy loads.

Hardness ranges available

  • Soft and elastic grades from 40 to 95 Shore A
Rigid grades from 60 to 70 Shore D

Dimensional capacity

  • Shafts up to diameter 835 millimetres, length 4000 millimetres and weight up to 3000 kilograms
  • Reinforced plates up to thickness 20 millimetres and size 1500 by 3000 millimetres
  • Maximum cast piece weight up to 400 kilograms

Key advantages of PU parts

Polyurethane parts offer an excellent balance between flexibility and strength, making them suitable for a wide variety of industrial uses. Their high wear resistance, strong bonding to metal substrates and cost effective tooling make PU components an ideal choice for both replacement parts and new equipment designs.
